School Projects

as a Multimedia and Photography Major

Over the course of four years, I was able to improve and challenge my skills as a designer and artist through countless projects at San Diego State University. While each assignment helped build my expertise and experience, these are a few of my favorites from my graphic design and typography courses.

Famous Couples

Inspired by Penguin Books’ new series, Famous Couples, my class was prompted to share the essence of an iconic duo through visual storytelling. Our challenge was to design a complete book jacket that successfully captured the characteristics of the relationship.

With this in mind, I chose Dani Ardor and Christian Hughes from the iconic horror film, Midsommar (2019), for their woeful and complicated journey as a couple. In my cover, I sought to incorporate elements of their unique story throughout the design, taking inspiration from both characters' individual tales.

Poem Broadside

In collaboration with SDSU's English and Comparative Literature Department and Poetry International, our goal was to creatively translate a poem from their collection in a conceptual manner while utilizing the broadside format.

Social Issue Campaign

For this project, we were instructed to create a poster campaign for our social justice issue that resonated personally with us. Being the daughter of Vietnamese refugees, I wanted to share my perspective on our country's current conflicted feelings toward immigration through a clear and concise message.

Type Fundementals

While exploring the fundamentals of typography, my class was assigned to demonstrate what we had learned accumulatively throughout the year by creating a variety of spreads covering the Equal Justice Initiative.
